This web page shows some downsides I found in software packages. Each of them, on their own, can cause major troubles to newbies trying to use the software. For more experienced people they spoil the fun using the software and often cause headaches. Some issues may exist by incident, some may be caused by policy of the software author. As soon as an issue is gone to my knowledge, it will be striked out from this website. Known workarounds will be listed too, as long as they are required.

Open source 'Barrier'-fork refuses to install on Windows 10 32 bit, lacking x86-binary?

[Feedback Please!] Need a 32-bit installer for Windows? · Issue #92 · debauchee/barrier · GitHub

Originel 'Symless Synergy'-software might support 32 bit versions of Windows (x86-binaries?), though is no longer freeware.

The freeware version of Synergy has been a great tool, for extending a single keyboard and mouse onto one or many auxilary laptops or pc's, running almost any Windows, Linux or other operating system. Unfortunately the original Synergy is less secure. The user ought to build the 32 bit Barrier-binaries from source code manually. A much easier alternative seems to be the 'yupi2'-fork of Synergy, which has both 64 bit as well as 32 bit Windows-binaries. spacedesk desktop estate expansion available in 64 bit and 32 bit looks promising as well: it even supports lcd-displays from smartphones. That seems to be restricted to a single operating system/single laptop/single pc though, communicating with many many screens from other systems.
